Generate templated legal responses with smart escalation checks for DSRs, litigation holds, NDAs, subpoenas, and vendor inquiries.
npx clawhub@latest install legal-responseLegal Response is a skill that generates professional, customized replies to common legal inquiries using your team's configured templates. It covers data subject requests (DSRs), litigation hold notices, vendor legal questions, NDA requests, privacy inquiries, subpoenas, and insurance notifications. Before producing any draft, it runs a comprehensive set of escalation checks — pausing and alerting you when a situation is too complex or sensitive for a templated reply. The generated drafts are starting points intended for review by qualified legal professionals before being sent.
Before generating any response, the skill evaluates a multi-layered set of escalation triggers — universal triggers (litigation risk, regulator involvement, multi-jurisdiction conflicts) plus category-specific triggers for DSRs, discovery holds, vendor questions, NDAs, and subpoenas. When a trigger is detected, the skill stops, explains the issue, and recommends the appropriate escalation path rather than producing a response that shouldn't be templated.
Supports data subject requests, discovery/litigation holds, privacy inquiries, vendor legal questions, NDA requests, subpoena/legal process, insurance notifications, and custom templates. Each category includes multiple sub-categories (e.g., DSR acknowledgment vs. fulfillment vs. denial) with the required legal elements for that specific response type.
For each inquiry type, the skill prompts you for exactly the information needed to customize the response — requester name, applicable regulation, response deadlines, matter reference numbers, custodian lists, and more. This ensures no required field is accidentally omitted before a draft is presented for review.
Response drafts are adjusted to reflect the correct regulation (GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, or other), applicable statutory deadlines, jurisdiction-specific rights language, and appropriate legal terminology — so the output is calibrated to the requester's actual legal context, not a generic template.
When no template exists for an inquiry type, the skill walks you through a structured template creation guide: defining the use case, identifying required elements, naming variables, drafting the body, and setting escalation triggers. Templates include metadata (version, reviewer, approval date) and a lifecycle framework for keeping them current as laws and policies change.
Every generated response is presented as a draft for review before any suggestion to send. Output includes an escalation check summary, post-send follow-up actions, and reminders about applicable regulatory deadlines. If connected to email via MCP, the skill can create a draft email directly from the generated response.
A user submits a DSAR under GDPR. The skill checks for escalation triggers (e.g., employee with an active HR dispute, special category data, regulatory authority as requester), collects the requester's name, request date, applicable regulation, and statutory deadline, then generates a compliant acknowledgment or fulfillment response populated with the correct details and rights language.
Legal counsel needs to notify custodians to preserve ESI for a new matter. The skill confirms no escalation conditions apply, prompts for the matter name, custodian list, preservation scope, date range, and outside counsel contact, then produces a privileged-and-confidential hold notice with clear preservation obligations and an acknowledgment deadline.
A business team asks legal to send a mutual NDA to a new vendor partner. The skill checks whether the counterparty is a competitor or the context suggests M&A activity (escalation triggers), then generates an NDA cover communication with the appropriate form reference, execution instructions, and timeline expectations for the counterparty.
Outside counsel needs a structured starting point for a subpoena response. The skill always flags subpoenas as requiring individualized counsel review, then produces a clearly marked DRAFT - FOR COUNSEL REVIEW ONLY framework including the case reference, jurisdiction, any standard objections, preservation confirmation, and privilege log reference — giving counsel a head start rather than a blank page.
